Anyone ever try these? I figured id use these to run my power and ground underneath my car and have an access point in the trunk, rather than routing big ass cable around in a little civic. Ill probly end up just doing this for ground, because my thought is that if i run the positive like this too that a rainy day could short them out. It would be fused but its still a worry of mine. If that was too big of a risk id just run the ground under the car.

I figured id drill the hole, insert, tighten, and then throw some JB weld around the bottom seal, or at least some good caulk.

Yeah i could just cut a hole, yeah i could just use a grommet, but this just seems to make things seamless. Heavy weather resistant welding cable under the car, and then fancy car audio wire on the other end inside the trunk, and no mess to deal with in the car.

Hmmm, that looks like a good idea for both + and - actually.

You could just use some large heatshrink tubing where the cable connects to the bolt. It'd probably be hell to do but would seal everything form the weather elements. Being that the connector is actually isolated, unless that plastic around the connector wears off, there shouldn't be any shorts at all.

Now, you're also talking of having an access point in the turnk for the power wire, correct? Look at HOme Depot or Lowes. There are pass throughs for connecting wire to electrical boxes (main breaker boxes on houses). I used 2 of these to have my 4/0 wires go through the floorboard of the van. They work real well and I have yet to see any water around them. Have had it like this for 3+ years now.

Ahh hell, it's time for me to get ready to go home from work.. YAY!!!!!

Hmm.. i always overlooked these cause i always thought water would end up getting through somehow. But i noticed the rotisserie machine in our towns grocery store has one, and after looking at it closer it looks like ill be using these  lol. I wonder which brand has the best grommets though, the stinger ones look like the best one to me.

you can goto any electrical supply house and they will have "cord grips"
for just about any size. they also make some in stainless steel in-case corrosion is a problem in your location. and they should be better than the plastic ones for the price and saves shipping cost if your local supply house has them in stock.
