I am trying to get an opinion on the Audioengine D1 before I spend the money on it. This is my situation.
I will be headed for Korea this October, and my living conditions will be transitioning from a house to a dorm room. With the dorm room environment I don't want to disturb others while listening to music, watching movies or playing video games. I use a Macbook Pro as my main source, and will be buying a flat screen TV to use as my monitor for my laptop. I know how crappy most mainstream flat screen audio is, and most don't have a headphone jack on them, plus I don't want to have to swap my headphones around when switching sources. Most mainstream TVs also have an optical output, and the D1 has an optical input.
I plan on using my current Lossless collection, and acquiring new media while in Korea. For movies, I will probably end up with a PS3 running through HDMI to the TV.
In the future, I will see if it would be a viable option to use this in my car audio setup for a SQ setup.
From the specs or personal experience, would the D1 suit my needs of a cost worthy DAC/headphone amp?
Thanks
